Keep Your Eyes on Uranus

Even though it is in retrograde Uranus is right now as close to Earth as it can be. We know from mythology that Uranus has trickster energy – completely unpredictable and somewhat destructive.

Because Uranus rules electricity, lightening and many astrologers are pointing to his hand in the devastating wild fires in California.

I prefer to work on the more personal level, however. Where Uranus is transiting in your chart right now is an area is one that can use a jolt. It is always best to come out ahead of Uranus – you want to make the change that you may have been ruminating on for seemingly forever – don’t allow Uranus to make that change for you. He can cause quite the shock! For a quick review of your current chart and how Uranus will impact you in the next few months – click here – only $25

P.S. One of the many reasons this summer has been so unpredictable is that every New Moon we have had has been conjunct Uranus – He is just having a ball causing all of this agitation!

The Last Pluto-Uranus Square!

UniverseThis evening at approximately 10 PM EDT, Uranus and Pluto will make the last of seven squares since they began this crazy dance in 2012. This is the last gasp of the Grand Cross that began in early 2014 and saw Saturn, Mars also at odds with Pluto and Uranus. The first two have moved on their way leaving just the slow movers still butting heads.

Uranus-Pluto is a clash of the titans of change – Uranus demanding quick action and Pluto, the master of bidding one’s time and forcing change in his own good time. It has been a rough ride, just look around at the world and see the violent clashes of old and new.

The last time we saw a similar dance between these two was in the 1960’s and much of the unanswered work of that time has come back to haunt us. We have new threats of nuclear proliferation, ugly race clashes, environmental neglect and sexual exploitation and discrimination. The good news is that we have made some progress from the last square but we have so much further to go!  However, growth only comes from pain and we have several chances this week to manifest great personal change.

At the time of the vernal equinox – the time on new beginnings – we will also see a solar eclipse, another harbinger of awakening. If you want another excuse to manifest change in your life, there will also be a new Moon.

In these few days before the Equinox, work on the long overdue personal changes you want to manifest. Think of the positive values of each planet at work here – Uranus thinks 20 years ahead of society so who do you want to be 20 years down the road? Pluto forces us to dig deeply and root out the negative to manifest true change. What attributes do you just need to throw out now? Pluto will help you find them.

Pre Solstice Planetary “Hits”

The Solstice finally arrives on June 21 at 6:51 AM, Eastern Time. However, before it arrives we have a couple of planetary aspects to which you might want to pay attention. Actually, you will have to pay attention because none of these planets are shy, retiring little creatures.
On June 14, Mars will make a square, a disharmonious contact, with Pluto. If one of these planets are in either retrograde or badly aspected in your chart – expect to be out of sorts for a few days. You might even be itching for a fight. Watch out for road rage and people acting out.
June 19 sees Uranus coming into the act. This Mars, Uranus Pluto T-Square – or three planet square – represent the tail end of the much spoken of Grand Cross that has been in play since April. If anyone has been planning some big disaster since the Cross started I fear they will make it happen now. (Not that missing plane and 300 missing little girls are not horror enough.) I hope all security systems are on guard during this time.

What we have is a lot of testy energy – Mars, warrior, Pluto, slow change and Uranus demanding quick change – a rebel energy —- going on at this time. So everyone please breathe and think of the Solstice to come!

Major Gemini-Sagitarrian Activitiy TODAY!

The question of today is where is Gemini at 27 degrees in your chart?  Let me explain.
Every year at this time, the Sun passes over the Galactic Center – the rotational point of Milky Way. The Center is at 27 degrees Sagittarius – so 27 degrees into the constellation of Sagittarius is the center of the Milky Way.  (The Sun is at 25 degrees Sagittarius now and will be fully at 27 degrees on Thursday.)

Today we are going to experience a full Moon – (when the Sun and Moon are opposing one another in the sky. The Moon is “full” because it is far away from the Sun and its natural light flows uninhibited.  That full Moon is in Gemini at 27 degrees.

Gemini and Sagittarius share an astrological axis. Gemini is the ruler of our thoughts, the way we communicate. Sagittarius is where we go out into the world and explore to hone our truth and expand our knowledge. Both deal with expressing ourselves.
This is a perfect Moon placement to expand our perceptions, explore our beliefs, and examine how our mental tapes are running. From now until the Solstice on Saturday, we should be tuning into those energies to help clear out our mental cobwebs, finding, and expressing our truth!
To help this new mental energy flow even better we finally have Uranus (rebellious, new energy) out of retrograde. It is at station direct – meaning it is sort of appearing to stand still in the sky but it is not heading backwards. Use Uranus – set that goal to be honest with your thoughts and honest with others.

So back to my first question – where is Gemini at 27 degrees in your chart. That is the area where this activation vibrates most for you. For me it is in 9th house – the house of Sagittarius, which happens to be my North Node. Wow, I have no excuse not to pursue and live my truth now. I had better get to work!

A Few More Retrogrades Bite the Dust…

Did you feel the shift this weekend? Besides the full Moon in Taurus we had last night, this weekend saw the movement of Neptune and the asteroid Chiron into a direct motion. They had been retrograded for a good part of 2013. Pluto led the way earlier this month and Uranus will follow next month. Then once we have Jupiter heading forward things will be smoother – once we get over the horrible Grand Cross in April – but let’s not dwell on that so close to Thanksgiving.

This will be a bumpy week emotionally as the Moon makes a quick pass through Cancer on Wednesday and Thursday squaring Uranus and then opposing Pluto along the way. Moon and Uranus interactions are a time of high and changeable emotions. It is best to stay away from “jumpy” or “high strung” people at that time. Pluto will be anything but excitable and will bring on sadness and a questioning of our emotions. The good news is the Moon never tarries! So just breath and think of the big guys going direct! We need some good energy from them for a change.

Juno the Loyalty Goddess in Retrograde

First I want to thank the people at “Dell Horoscope” for their wonderful review of “Signs of the Tines: The Ultimate Astrological Cookbook,” which can be read on my website wwww.signsofthetines.com – under “press.” I have written a lot about the “big” retrogrades we are under right now – Pluto, Neptune, etc. The big boys and girls. We do have a fairly prominent asteroid also in retrograde, that is, Juno, the goddess of loyalty – the consort. When she is strong in a birth chart – and hovers around the 7 – 8 houses the person will be looking for a committed relationship – sometimes to a fault. I have seen many strong Juno’s cause a person to stick with a highly unfavorable mate because they are stuck on that need to be committed to someone no matter what! However, what does it mean when Juno, like now, is in retrograde? Well this is a time to find fault in relationships – to want to tear down and analyze what isn’t making us tick. Someone born with Juno in retrograde will have to work harder to find that “one and only” and to make it work for all parties. Right now Juno is retrograded in the rebellious planet of Uranus. Depending on where Juno is in your natal chart – you can be doing a lot of questioning about the relationships that you are in. Remember it is Juno – don’t make any rash decisions! I wonder if the little “tiff” in the Republican Party has something to do with Juno. There are the rebels our “Tea Party” – ah pals – who are questioning the loyalty of what is left of the normal GOP. I for one love watching what is going on and thank Juno for stirring up a wee bit of trouble. 🙂

Uranus in Aries –

I was asked to expand on the meaning of Uranus in Aries which I mentioned in last week’s blog. Uranus moved into Aries in 2011 and will remain there until 2018.  Uranus energy is quick and rebellious and demands change. Uranus also controls electricity and is very much energy on the “cusp of the future.”
Uranus has no time for now – it is always looking for what is coming down the pike.
Uranus – and the sign it controls Aquarius, is very interested in humanitarian activity. The irony is that Aquarians can be very detached from individual people but are great lovers of mankind.
The shadow of Uranus is unsettling change, uncontrolled rebellion and erratic motion. It is hard to control lightening in a bottle.
Aries, of course, is the ancient god of war and the archetype is male, aggressive energy. Aries is a Cardinal sign, the sign of the leader and serves a necessary role in giving us our drive, energy and ego. However, the shadow of Aries is ego-centricity and even violence.
This period while Uranus is in Aries should bring us advances in humanitarian causes- people willing to really take up the causes of those less fortunate. I also predict that electronics will take off even more than they have been in recent years.
Unfortunately, we will experience more violence like the shootings in Colorado and Connecticut and perhaps even some erratic dictators on the loose.
The last time Uranus was in Aries was 1927 – 1935 in which we saw the following events:
Rise of Third Reich
Depression
The Rise of Mahatma Gandhi
Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh

Another Shift – Uranus Moved Into Aries

All of the major outer planets have shifted from one constellation to another since 2008 – and you were wondering why we all feel a little off balanced!

One of the most fascinating – and potentially dangerous shifts is for the rebellious planet of Uranus’ move into Aries, the sign that is the archetype of raw, male energy.  Uranus hates stagnation – it loves to shake things up and throw out the old and the stale.

Using that Aries energy to shake off things about yourself that you don’t like – to really make New Year’s resolutions stick. If you feel like you are “jumping out of your skin” to change and do something – go with it. Look at your chart and see where Uranus is by natal placement and by transit and then get to work on those areas.

However, when you combine rebellion and unbridled male energy you can sometimes get dire results. Sadly, especially when it is squaring Pluto as Uranus is now, we might see more Aurora’s – more Newtown’s. People pushing others onto subway tracks – people acting out are all the shadow of this placement.

It isn’t the Moon!

Several people have asked me this week if the goofiness they are feeling is due to a full moon. Nope, the moon isn’t full right now…the culprits lie in a tight conjunction between Mars, the communicator, and Uranus, the quick change artist, both in Aries. When these two come together communications are subject to sudden stops and starts. You can also hear people making outlandish statements and wild promises and there can be a great deal of aggressive speech going on. All of this is courtesy of the wild energy and rebelliousness of Uranus. Mars will move out soon so this won’t last much more than a few days. But then the full moon will be in full swing! 

Energy Energy – Uranus and Pluto Squares.

Between 2012-2015 when Uranus in Aries will square Pluto in Capricorn 7 times. This is the ultimate clash of unbridled change energy and slow and steady almost grinding change energy.

For those who like to keep track of such things here are the dates of the exact squares:

June 24, 2012
September 19, 2012
May 20, 2013
November 1, 2013
April 21, 2014
December 15, 2014
March 16/17, 2015

These transits are not always easy. The demand to change and rebel against old stuffy institutions will be intense. There can be even bigger revolutions that we are seeing now, corporate power struggles and even unexpected deaths of people and institituions.

This will also be a time for the further advancement of scientific and technological breakthroughs.

For indiviuals, you could see the end of old relationships.

Remember what I said when Pluto entered Capricorn – this is a time of big change to corporations and government. Well when Uranus throws it’s electical energy into that hang on kids becuase the ride will excilerating and very bumpy!
