Tim Kaine

I don’t have Mike Pence’s birth time so I can’t do an accurate chart for him. I do have one for Tim Kaine, however. Before the debate tonight let’s look at the chart of the man who wants to be our next Vice President.

Like Secretary Clinton, Senator Kaine has his Sun in the twelfth house. This is normally not a “normal” placement for a politician because it builds in a natural reserve and even secretiveness. Both Democratic candidates prefer the work instead of the “smoozing” aspect of the work. Senator Kaine benefits from Mercury conjuncting his Sun which gives him more charisma, more appeal than Secretary Clinton. In his case, it comes across as a kind of folksy charm.

With his Moon in communicative Gemini in the third house, a house that Gemini likes, no one should underestimate his ability to get his point across. He is battling two retrogrades in his fifth house – that of creativity and expression – so while he isn’t a speaker on par with a President Obama or President Bill Clinton, when he is one-on-one he gets his point across.

Neptune and Jupiter surrounding his South Node in the mystical eighth house gives him his religious and missionary zeal.  However, when I do a progressed chart – moving planets to their current position in his chart, he has a bit too many planets hitting his eighth house in the next few years. At its core, this is the house of death, dying and rebirth – so I hope he experiences more of the rebirth and personal transformation aspect of this house.

He is not flashy, he is good at hiding his brains behind a plain exterior but no one should underestimate Senator Kaine’s brains or ability to get his point across in the end.

Donald Trump – Deeply Embedded in His South Node

As a karmic astrologer the Nodal axis of a person’s chart is fascinating – that is the pattern of the North and South Nodes. The South Node tells me about their karmic past – what traits do they bring with them in this lifetime that are memories of past behaviors.  While there is nothing wrong with our past incarnations, of course, our goal in this life should be to grow beyond them, learn new lessons and move forward. Why reincarnate if you are going to do the same things repeatedly?

Donald Trump’s South Node, Sagittarius in the fourth house, indicates that was someone fiercely involved with his family and community who held himself out as the keeper of knowledge and arbiter or what was “right.” Sagittarians love to know what is true – they love to be right. With his Moon so close to the Node and Jupiter, its ruler, in his house of self-worth, we can see how easy it is to goad him. He is emotionally incapable of not saying he knows all there is to know and he is always right. This has been a pattern for many lifetimes. This is why he says I am going to do this – and going to do that. In his mind, he knows all that is right for his community. He believes in his soul that only he can make “America great again.”

With his North Node in the tenth house, in Gemini he should be moving away from this idea that he has all of the answers and he is the lord of knowledge. Gemini is the seeker of knowledge – the sign addicted to learning all things new. Gemini demands that we open up to new ways of thinking. While the fourth house is my roots, my family – the tenth house wants us to involve ourselves in the larger world. Gemini in ten demands that we live in a world that is an open tent where new ideas are encouraged.

While the tenth house is also the house of society and government, Trump seems to be trying to impose his Sagittarian belief that he knows all into the larger picture instead of opening up to learning. He is making a slight foray into the tenth house but refuses to leave behind his old, Sagittarian patterns.

Does this spell success or defeat in November? The universe does reward baby step we take into our North Node, that is true. This may be dreaming on my part but I just can’t see his myopic, nationalist, hateful speech being that big a step forward for that big a reward.
P.S. I am so glad the Hillary “listened” to my chart advice last week to keep her cool no matter what and that Trump went full into his Jupiter verbosity!

September 26 Debates – Hillary

If you are a student of Astrology or this blog, you know that this a political year like no other. With Pluto, the change agent, in Capricorn the sign which rules authority and government, nothing is impossible. Sadly, we are seeing drastic changes to our political structure and none for the best.

On September 26, 2016 will see the debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. This is a very important debate as Trump seems to be climbing in the polls and Hillary literally stumbled. For the most part, Hillary has some good signs in her chart for debate time. The Sun is conjunct Jupiter, the planet of growth, optimism and expansion, in her 10th house – the house of government. Mercury, the communicator,  is also in her tenth.

She needs to watch the square Saturn (in her first) makes with Mercury. This can lead to her expressing her anger over the press giving Trump a pass. While she is correct, she can’t appear whiny. With her Moon in the fire sign Leo, she opposing the warrior goddess, Pallas Athena, it would be easy for her to play the “poor me, you are picking on the girl” theme. This would be a mistake.

Hillary needs to rely on her brain power, her calm steady demeanor and she needs to call out Trump on his foolishness with authority. If she becomes to careless, too emotional, we are all in trouble. hillary-first-debate

Ted Williams and his “Living” Head

On August 30, 1918, Ted Williams was born. I admit I didn’t know much about his career as a kid. I was a child of the Mantel-Marris era. In fact, the only thing I knew about him for a long time was that he had that some of this children had his body posthumously frozen and stored at an Arizona cryonics facility. There is much controversy surrounding the procedure which pitted his children against one another. Leaving the emotions behind, I had to look at the astrology of a man whose body would have such a bizarre ending…or should I say beginning.
Upon casting his chart, I looked immediately to his eight house, the house of death and rebirth. Where else? Mr. Williams did not fail me. He had Pluto, Juno, Jupiter, Vesta and the Moon all in the eighth house at birth.
Pluto in the eighth is where he likes to be – Pluto vibrates to the energy of the eighty house and concerns itself with regeneration. He had to have an interest in the afterlife with that placement. Juno is the goddess of loyalty and nestled next to Pluto just enhances his desire to solve the mysteries of death. Jupiter is ever expansive and brings optimism, hope and thoughts of the future. Vesta will put roadblocks in our way to reaching our goal. I read there was misuse of his head and that employees of the facility removed it and even used as a football by some member of the facility. If true, that certainly sounds like a roadblock to me. Of course, the Moon is our emotional barometer. If Mr. Williams made the decision to be frozen I am sure he had some issues to worth through!

I find this an interesting case study of our charts predicting not only our live path but live after death path as well.

Saturn is no Longer in Retrograde

Saturn came out of retrograde on August 13. You will feel that boost of forward moving energy this week because of he is coming into proximity of Mars’ orbit. That can be dangerous since they are both in a fire sign, Sagittarius. After the long rest, Saturn is ready to get moving again. Doing what he does best, Saturn is demanding organization, control and order. Mars, on the other hand, wants to move forward with or without a plan. This clash often leads to short tempers and even violence.  We do not need any more violence but be on the lookout for those who might not have good control mechanisms.

Use this energy in a positive sense to go through piles of old clothes, organize your office and get a jump on what my mother used to call, “fall cleaning.” If it is too hot to go out, don’t get grumpy, get cleaning.

Aquarius Full Moon Tonight!

People are going all stupid about this full Moon because it is in Aquarius and is an eclipse (although not visible). It isn’t going to usher in a new wave of thinking that will encase all of us as some have said. It will activate new thinking – outside-of-the-box thinking for those of us who wish to attune. This is especially true of those with strong Aquarian energy in their charts.

Saturn is squaring Neptune at this Full Moon – making it an excellent time to be conscious of new ways to bring order to your spiritual practices  and incorporate them into your daily routine if you have not done so.  Mars and Saturn are hanging close which is always a time to assess your anger response – do your fly off the handle or do you hold it all in. Maybe you need to work on your anger issues through a regular spiritual practice?

Aquarius’s ruler, Uranus, is also in disharmony to Saturn/Mars. Don’t expect this to be a very easy time if you are one who has ignored both anger, aggression or spirituality. These placements are there to agitate but like the sand in oyster, the work they cause you to do can produce something of great value!

Pluto on the Moon – Breathe!

The Moon is coming into close (in universal terms) relationship to Pluto’s orbit this week. Anytime, Pluto activates either the Sun, Moon, Venus or Mars we feel a bit unsettled. This is especially true of people who have a relationship in their personal charts between the two bodies.
Pluto on the Moon can make your feel cranky and not pleased with your emotional responses. You can find yourself saying, why did I say that, why did I react like that?

moon
It can be very disconcerting. However, there is also a great benefit to this placement. How do you want to change your emotional responses? How would you want react to a snippy person in the next cubicle at work or the bully who stole your parking space? Work now on how you want to use the changing power of Pluto to temper emotions that sometimes still get ahead of you.

Summer Party!

VenusWith a Venus, Mercury and Jupiter conjunction in the eleventh house, that of social and group activities, it is time to have a summer party! Venus can bring you love and adventure, Mercury the gift of gab and Jupiter – endless potential. Things won’t get too out of hand, however, because they are all in the rather sedate sign of Virgo.

Use the Earthly energy of Virgo to host a garden or harvest party? Print out a few pictures of Virgo holding her sheaves of wheat to get people into the mood.

Just be sure this doesn’t become an all-work party. You know how Virgo loves to be fulfilling some duty! Let Jupiter allow you kick back and have some real fun.

New Moon in Leo Tonight

The New Moon happens when the path of the Moon is closest to the Sun. Because the Sun’s power dwarfs that of the Moon, it is unseen to us on Earth. This invisibility makes it a good time to manifest – or express your secrets – to both the Sun and the Moon.
A New Moon always happens in the same sign simultaneously inhabited by the Sun. Since this in August and the Sun is in Leo, the Moon is as well. Leo brings out our creativity, fire and confidence. What do you wish to bring into your life that will make you stand out and apart from the crowd? Where do you want to shine?
Mars, which is still retrograded, moved back into Scorpio last month, and today slowly makes his way back in Sagittarius, which like Leo is another fire sign. This can bring up hidden angers and long festering and unrequited demands to those not properly attuned to this energy.
However, if you can harness the fire of Leo, Mars and Sagittarius and funnel them toward positive change you can make great leaps toward your goals this week.
(By the way, Donald Trump has a Leo ascendant with Mars resting on the cusp of the first house. If you are wondering why he is having more trouble than usual controlling his impulses, look to this fire energy for some answers.)

Be Creative!

This has been such a terrible week with Pluto, Saturn and Uranus squaring and retrograding causing such trauma. So let me tell you about a happier combination happening this week.

We have a wonderful combination of Venus, Mercury conjuncting the Sun right now. What a wonderful time it is to be creative. It is summer – so kick back and try your hand at something knew – whether it is writing, painting, cooking or whatever. Just go for it! You can also communicate with someone – write a letter or email. All three are in the motherly and nurturing sign of Cancer so it could be a great time to paint the house or the work in the garden.

However, the down side of Cancer is emotions run amuck so don’t use this time to have a difficult conversation. Just have fun and try something new. You will be surprised at what you can accomplish. And please, please, keep the emotions under control!
