America’s April Fools Chart

For some reason this year I have a strong desire to study the chart of the United States on April fool’s Day and believe I do not do it with any glee. I have written extensively about this countries Pluto return – which demands that we reevaluate the negative aspects of our relationships to money and values. Now Juno is joining the “party.”

Juno is the mythological royal consort whose domain was hearth, home and marriage. Known to the Greeks as Hera, she rules the area of one on one relationships, rituals, women’s rights and empowering the downtrodden.

She is now in a five degree conjunction with Pluto and when these two get together the energy is of deep personal and social transformation. This transformation takes place in partnership. Even if one person undergoes a change, it is change that another instigates.

April Fools US

This can be a time revealing dictatorial, power-hungry, or destructive forces. Combined with the coming retrograde of Saturn and Mercury we can be in for a year of startling even cataclysmic revelations. However, if Pluto is to do his work of ferreting out secrets and muck we need this type of catharsis.

That is no joke.

Happy Spring!

Happy Equinox all! This is the time when the Sun moves into the sign of Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac. It is no wonder that all of the major organized religions celebrate this time as a time of rebirth and renewal. Aries is the Baby of the Zodiac. It vibrates to the energy of the first house – the house of personality where we burst out and say hey world look at me. The Equinox brings forth the newness of spring – where we plant new seeds for change.
Plant the seeds now to burst forth with the person you want to be when the summer solstice comes around!
This year we have a stellium (five or more bodies) together in Pisces. They include a tight conjunction of the Sun, Mercury and Venus. On the positive aspect of this – these instill creativity, compassion and concern which I believe we are seeing in reaction to the draconian elements of Trump world. In shadow, all of this Pisces energy can give us the desire to escape harsh reality and live in fantasy. I hope we remain on the side of compassion.
Spring is a time for renewal – let’s hope we all understand the value and need for continuing emergence of spirit.
Happy Spring. Equinox 2017 - spring

Ready for a Little Good News for a Change?

If so, then the universe is bringing us a ray of hope in the miasma of living in Trump world. We have Venus, the Moon, Neptune and Pallas Athena all in Pisces right now. Since Neptune rules Pisces, it is infusing us with a double dosage of the compassion and universality which is the specialty of sign. When we overlay the current chart over that of the United States we see that those Pisces-infused planets are in our third house, that of community and friendship. Venus is the energy of the goddess of love and creativity and the Moon also is a very feminine sign. Pallas Athena is the warrior goddess, ready to take up the cause of the underdog. You can see these energies play out in both the Women’s March on Washington and the impromptu rage against the Muslim travel ban. It is also no irony that the Federal judges acting against the ban were all women!

Pisces cares about the underdog and wants us to live in a world of peace and brotherhood. We need that energy more than ever right now.  However, the negative aspect of this sign is escapism. Pisces wants to live in the world of peace and togetherness and has a very hard time handling all of the nitty gritty and nasty details of life. It is easy for Pisces to escape into a world of unreality- of puppies and bunnies – when hit too hard. We can’t afford to do that.

Jan 30

Fortunately, we have structured and authoritarian Saturn in the first house, that of personality and persona. While this can have a depressive effective – (one we can all feel right now) it also forces us to make plans and follow through.

Saturn and Pisces together will help us through.

Presidential Debates – Trump

With Saturn transiting his Sagittarius South Node, and Mars just having made a pass, I expect him to be in full know-it-all bluster. The good news for Trump is that the transiting Midheaven (or career marker) is on his Sun in the first house and expansive, positive Jupiter is about to transit his second house which deals with self-worth. However, Jupiter can give and take. It can also indicate that Jupiter will enhance his natural bravado since it has the ability to help us go overboard. In fact, with Jupiter on his progressed Saturn and both of them dancing on his natal Neptune – he can get messianic on us.

Uranus is leaving his eighth house – the house of power. This can make one erratic and do something a bit off kilter to exert their power. Can we hope?

Vesta, the asteroid that puts roadblocks in our way and makes us work for our goal is progressed in his 10th house, which deals with authority, career and government.

Will he get erratic, will he go overboard?  Those are activities in his wheelhouse. It depends on how much he can control himself – which hasn’t proved to be too successful in the past!

The Positives of Retrogrades: Don’t Miss The Opportunities

The Positives of Retrogrades: Don’t Miss The Opportunities

Pluto/Saturn Double Retrograde – Get Organized!

Saturn went into retro on March 25 and Pluto on April 18. You couldn’t create a better time to structure your life. Pluto demands deep change and Saturn is the zodiac’s organizer. Saturn controls time, form, structure and all things that keeps us from total anarchy. If you can never get projects done on time, if you can’t find anything as you race out the door, if your house and life is in disorder – pay attention. This is the time to get the work done to get yourself back in order.

I have asked my friend and super organizer Julie Gray of Profound Impact to give us some tips on how to take those important first steps. Visit her website https://profound-impact.com/ and discover your own “time personality” and how this can help you slow life down – while getting more done!

Five Steps to Organize Any Room in Your Home

Over 2000 years ago Aristotle stated that, “Nature abhors a vacuum.” This is known as Horror Vacui in the scientific world and The Universal Law of the Vacuum in spiritual communities.

If you open or puncture a vacuum-sealed container, air will rush to fill that space. Similarly if you let go of a relationship that isn’t working, a job that no longer fills you with joy, or (mental) clutter that is weighing you down – the universe will rush to fill this open space with positive people, energy, creativity, and opportunities – whatever you are lining up.

If you are itching for a change in your life – even if you aren’t sure what it is you want to change – decluttering your space is a powerful place to start.

Our stuff holds a lot of energy. It has the power to weigh us down even when we aren’t anywhere near our belongings. On the other side, I’ve never worked with anyone that didn’t feel immediately lighter after releasing what no longer serves them.

I’ve seen people lose weight, find a relationship, receive a windfall, go back to school, get a promotion, move to a new city, regain their confidence, enjoy more peace of mind.
Please don’t think I am attributing these big shifts entirely to the organizing process. That would be unfair. However I do believe that when you are ready to declutter you are already in the process of creating change. In addition, decluttering is like pouring gas on the fire. It is an accelerator.

Are you ready to get started?

Here are my five favorite steps for decluttering and organizing any room in your home. Be sure to let me know how these worked for you!

1. Clear out anything not related to that space’s function.
Throw out or donate the stuff about which you’ve already made decisions. Take to your car what you’ve been meaning to return or give back to a friend. Put things away. This step goes fast. Don’t get hung up in indecision paralysis. Starting here will build a ton of momentum and feel amazing.

2. Group like items together. You’ve most likely heard of this organizing principle before. It is critical to collect and store similar items together. Think of your office supplies, books, spices in the kitchen, bills to pay, and in-progress craft projects. Imagine that each category is its own family and you are creating little homes for all the family members to live together. You will tweak these categories over time. Always be on the lookout for new categories that want to live together.

3. Assign a home. As mentioned above, each of these categories – or new little families – that you’ve created needs a home. Notice the homes you’ve already created. Your reading pile by your bed, your bills by the front door, your vitamins next to the water glasses in the kitchen. You’ve selected homes that that work for you. Do this with the new categories you’ve created. Containers can *sometimes* help but not always.

4. Maintain. Even before you have finished your decluttering and organizing projects it is necessary to start a ritual or routine to reset your space at the end of day or week. One of my clients dubbed it the “7 Minute Sweep” in her household. Each evening they would set the timer for 7 minutes and as fast as possible pick items up and put them back where they belong.

5. Make it easy. One of the biggest tricks for keeping your space organized and clutter-free(ish) is to keep things simple. Make your space very easy to maintain. This may mean that you:

Delegate your filing to the babysitter or your assistant
Only leave half of your decorations out at any time put the rest “on rotation”
Leave piles on the floor if they work for you and aren’t causing anxiety
Create labels by hand or don’t use any at all (unless of course they help!)

Take notice in your home and office of where you are adding extra steps that don’t need to be there. Go the simple and easy route – for you.

Now it’s your turn to declutter. What could rush into your life if you released what is no longer serving you? How much better would you sleep? How much more creativity and energy would you have?

I encourage you to try this out and see for yourself.

Don’t panic – Mercury goes retrograde on September 17.

Don’t panic – Mercury goes retrograde on September 17.

I say this every time but Mercury goes retrograde; I get a ton of emails and calls about all the horrible things that will happen. I admit that depending on where your natal Mercury is doing, you could have communication issues, computer glitches and phone blow-ups but it does not happen to all of us every time Mercury gets sleepy! If you want to know where this retrograde is in relationship to your birth chart, drop me an email at [email protected] and I will send you a free chart pointing out the dance of Mercury.

For the good news, Saturn goes direct and moves firmly into Sagittarius. A Saturn retrograde, which can bog us down with feelings of duty or give a sense of lack of joy, is much more potent than a Mercury retrograde. Yet, we worry about Mercury all of the time! This is a time to feel the energy of Sagittarius. It calls us to explore, grow and learn. Take a class or read a book in a topic that is foreign to you. Feel the release of Saturn and let Mercury go on his merry way – he will go direct soon enough – he moves that fast!

How Pluto in Capricorn Would It Be For a Bernie Sanders to Win the Presidency?

I know he is a long shot even to get the nomination, but Pluto is in Capricorn so I have to entertain the possibility. Pluto, the planet of change and transformation requires is to dig deep and clean out the junk in our lives. Currently, as it grinds through Capricorn, the sign affecting authority and government, we have seen it force change in this arena. The Arab Spring, the election of an African-American President, the banking, Penn State and church scandals are all results of Pluto shaking these authority structures to their core.

Admittedly, a female President, a la Hillary Clinton, would be very much in line with Pluto’s work. I have to wonder if the planet’s reach could go further to bring us a Jewish, socialist from Vermont! (Alternatively, universe forbid, conversely could it bring the election of a right wing fanatic like Ted Cruz. I shudder to think, however, we can’t just see one side of Pluto’s possibilities.)

We don’t have the correct time of Senator Sander’s birth so it is hard to do a decent chart of him on Election Day. However, it is interesting to think of the possibility of Pluto do a bit more shaking up than predicted.

OK IT IS ALMOST OVER –

I know – I heard it all and it has happened to me. My computer was so bad last Friday that I had to reboot ten times to get it to do anything and to do it all at once. This Mercury retrograde was long and ugly but today – YES TODAY- Mercury stations direct which means she stops her seemingly backward movement. Tomorrow, July 2 she starts heading in the right direction again. Send off the fire works.

This year has been fraught with distant planet “battles” and we will have another skirmish in July. On July 4, the Sun opposes Pluto and then makes a square to Uranus on the 8th.  This is the tail end of the Grand Cross of April that brought us the Malaysian plane and the Ukraine. June’s squares brought up Iraq again. What will July bring? I don’t know. However, I do not like crosses and squares to all of those change planets around a national holiday. Then again, maybe the disaster was the Hobby Lobby decision. It will only remain a disaster if we don’t remember it on election day, however…the best way to change things is by getting thee to the polls, no?

🙂

Remember Pluto is Still in Capricorn

I was having breakfast with friends a few months ago when I said, “I don’t think the 2014 senatorial elections will be as dreadful to the Democrats as they are all predicting.” The collective response was one of “your lips to God’s ears.”  I do not pretend to be a psychic nor do I believe it is going to be a necessarily pretty election cycle for liberals. However, with Pluto in Capricorn – you just never know and I believe 2014 will bring changes no one expected.

Pluto is the (dwarf) planet of change and transformation. Pluto makes us the “offer we can’t refuse.” She says, “Change or I will bring change about for you.” That little icy comet/planet packs the proverbial astrological punch.
Capricorn is the sign of government, authority figures – those structures that keep the glue of society together. When you put the two together, we get big time changes in that arena.

Of course, when the planet hit Capricorn in 2008, it did what we expected – it caused big change in the structure of society like the banking system, which almost came apart. In addition, secrets of the rich and powerful were uncovered (i.e. Penn State, Catholic Church, and WikiLeaks.) It also caused some other troubling changes such as the corporate personhood.

Pluto Capricorn also introduced his to the first African American President of the United States.  In fact, on election night 2008 also saw Saturn standing directly opposite Uranus. Uranus is new change, Saturn is tradition all the way… we had the battle of the older white male and younger black male and, thankfully, Uranus won. Unfortunately, this ushered in the wave of the 2010 election: the revenge of the old white voter.

Planets sort of kick up their heels and make an impact three times during their transits, first, when they enter a sign, the second time half way through the sign and then just as they are leaving. Pluto entered in 2008 and will leave in 2023 so we are entering the midway point of this transition through Capricorn. So when Eric Cantor was defeated in a primary I said there we go – Pluto is acting up. Therefore, while I won’t pretend to know what will happen exactly, I know the 2014 – 2016 election cycle will not be what the “talking heads” foresee.
P.S. Oh and did I say Elizabeth Warren was born with Pluto in the 10th house, the house that vibrates to the energy of Capricorn?
